President's Message

Mike Busby, M.Photog, CPP, FP

Hello Everyone,

We wrapped up a fantastic Fall Conference in October with Dennis and Cheri Hammon. It was great to see everyone in Leavenworth and finally, a physical meet where we could all talk and engage with one another. The Conference started with a sunrise shoot and then it was a full day of landscape classes. And after the classes, well, there was more on-location shooting along the Wenatchee River. A big thank you to Ralph and Mary Jo Allen and to Heidi Swoboda for making the conference happen.

The organization is moving forward. The Marketing team, these last few months, have developed profiles and ads based on keywords, demographics and interests of potential new members who use social media. They implemented multiple advertising campaigns with minimal budgets. And, more importantly, they accrued the first data that’s providing insights to who is looking at us and how different advertising styles are attracting different demographics. Karissa Blunk, our Social Media Chair, provided a comprehensive report that documents what ads were conducted, and the statistical information generated by each campaign. It was a ton of work and a really great job – Thanks Karissa!!

Also on the new front is a welcoming program developed by Kim Clark, our Membership Chair. Kim sends out handwritten notes to every new member, and then follows them with a set of emails. Each email highlights certain PPW benefits and how the new member can engage with them. We’ve wanted a welcoming program and new member guide for years. Kim effectively fused them together in one shot. Again, a ton of work and a truly fantastic job. Thank You Kim Clark!!

This last year has seen the reorganization of our on-line presence. It’s seen us finding our way and forging new directions. We’ve been scheduling more classes with better content and we’ve been actively marketing our events, as well marketing to potential new members. Our strength has always been getting together, sharing ideas and helping each other and I look forward to more physical meets and seeing everyone.

PPW made remarkable use of last year’s down time and it’s amazing to see the development of the organization. PPW is strong and moving forward and I’d like personally thank everyone who has helped to make this happen.
