Normally, we meet every fourth Tuesday morning at 9am.

Get a grand tour of Canva - the tools, tips/tricks, and possibilities of the power of the platform for photographers. Be inspired to start saving time and energy with marketing and design. Every skill level welcome!

Jen Alvi has been a portrait photographer since 2011, focusing on families, high school seniors, headshots, and fine art. She is currently shifting to commissioned fine art portraits for custom-built homes.

After many years serving on the board for Professional Photographers of Idaho and also being the CEO of Save the Day Seasonings, Jen has heavily leaned on Canva for saving time creating marketing and printed designs. Jen also creates a weekly newsletter and a quarterly digital magazine.

Jen has been using Canva for 5 years and has created over 1,500 designs! Now with integrated AI features throughout Canva, the ability to edit photos, videos, and write text will blow your mind!

Demystifying Image Competition With Lisa Dillon, CPP, M.Photog., DF-OR

Does Image Competition or Merit Image Review mystify you? Do you really understand how it all works? What *is* the difference between Competition and Merit Image Review anyway? And what happened to IPC? These are just a few of the questions I’ll be answering in my program. I’ll explain how the programs work and why you should care about them in the first place. I’ll also teach you how images are judged so you’ll be able to participate with confidence. I’ll teach you a new way to look at the framework PPA uses to evaluate images. I’ll teach you how to look at your images with a judge’s eye so you can select the best images for competition and image review and get you on your way to your degree and competition success!

Lisa Dillon, CPP, M.Photog., DF-OR

Lisa Dillon is a Master Craftsman Photographer and CPP from Portland Oregon. She is a Diamond Fellow of Photography in Oregon. She is in her 22st year of business and specializes in high school senior, executive headshots and family photography. She is a 3-time president of Oregon Professional Photographers of Oregon and past president of the Professional Photographers of Oregon as well as an approved PPA juror. In addition to judging, Lisa teaches classes on image competition and business. She also mentors young photographers. She is a mother and a grandmother and loves to travel the world. A long time competitor, Lisa uses Image Competition as a way to explore new ideas and build on personal projects

Ready for something different?

Join us for a fun, hands-on photo experience where creativity, collaboration, and communication come together. Working in small teams, you'll tackle a series of photo assignments in three unique environments—a studio setup, an environmental kitchen, and an outdoor location—using professional lighting, backgrounds, props, and modifiers.

Throughout the day, you'll rotate through a variety of creative roles, experience the portrait process from different perspectives, and work together to bring each client's vision to life. No two assignments will be the same, and every challenge will encourage you to think creatively while developing new skills.

We'll wrap up the day by sharing and discussing our favorite images as the clients choose the photograph that best captured their original vision.

Whether you're looking to sharpen your photo skills, try something new, or simply enjoy a day of photography with fellow members, this workshop promises to be engaging, educational, and a whole lot of fun.
