Date: Saturday, Sept 19 9am – 4:30pm   •   Multiple Locations across Washington State

Join the Professional Photographers of Washington for a day of learning with some of the top Photoshop artists from across the country. The 2020 PPW Fall Conference is a unique and fun format this year. We will meet in different studio locations across Washington State - to come together for a memorable online learning event - all while socially distanced, of course!

Woody Walters, M. Photog, Cr: High Impact Composites

Learn to create killer composites with an award-winning photoshop artist. Join Woody for an in-depth workshop where we will also look at the art and science behind selecting components for your composites. You’ll learn how to select images that “fit” together and tell the story of your artwork. We’ll also go over composition, advanced blending, merging elements, color correcting, applying effects, and so much more.

Faye Johnson, M.Photog, CPP, FP: Be Creative with ACR

Faye will touch on the new Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) version 12.3 layout and design. ACR can save our jobs with exposures, but offers much, much more. Learn how to retouch blemishes, wispy hairs and enhancing eyes on portraits. Give a much-needed punch of color to a landscape. All while using smart objects, so future adjustments can be tweaked further. Elements, color correcting, applying effects, and so much more.

Mary Jo Allen, M. Photog, Cr, FP: Embrace the Blur

ColorBlur is Mary Jo’s word for the melding of color, texture and shape that she uses to create the soft compositions of her award-winning floral designs. Much of this effect is created in the camera but we all know that most every image needs a little help in Photoshop. She uses several tools  perhaps in a little different way than Thomas Knoll intended - but then her images are a bit unique. In this class we will look a little bit at how to find ColorBlur and then how to process the final image.

Alexis Sharpe, M. Photog, FP: Fantasy Portrait Retouching

Fantasy photography is a mix of creative and fine art portraiture that creates a sense of otherworldly beauty, conceptual costumes, makeup, and headpieces. She will cover: Camera Raw, Skin Retouching, Dodging/Burning, Non-Destructive Retouching, Creating beautiful color palettes within your portraits. Plus composition, advanced blending, merging elements, color correcting, applying effects, and so much more.

Scott Detwiler, M. Photog, Cr:  Let's Make Some Art

Starting with client work, we can apply some creative thinking using the tools that come with Photoshop to springboard us into a more artistic look.  In this short class we will bend a few minds and open the door to making art that can turn heads and create new products.

Chris Wooley, M. Photog, Cr, CPP, FP: Event Host

Chris is a commercial and portrait artist residing in the Spokane area and who loves helping photographers learn and grow while embracing the community of our industry. He strongly believes in helping others understand the “why” of the different techniques and technical approaches. He joins us as our MC for this event with tips, tricks, and commentary about photoshop and more.
